Wooooweee!! October has just been crazy with all sorts of meetings, photo shoots, and trips. I blinked and it was November! It looks like there’s no end in sight either, which is GREAT! I apologize for leaving you all blogless last week. As my last post so aptly put it, sometimes life just gets in the way of the things your really want to do! Like tell you all about my amazing experiences and the people I meet along the way.
Speaking of two such people, I want you all to get to know Jamie & Peter! I knew when I shot their You + Me session back in March (you crazy kids you! ;oP) that we were going to have a blast on their wedding day! My gut didn’t steer me wrong, their wedding day was an event for the books! I met Jamie in her hotel room at the Doubletree where she set aside a good chunk of time for bridals, Jamie got to channel her inner Tyra Banks and boy did she work it! We then ventured off to St. Matthews Church in East Syracuse for their heart felt ceremony. My favorite part of the day is where we had 3 hours inbetween the ceremony & reception to…you guessed it…TAKE PICTURES! Hooray!!! So we jaunted around the downtown Syracuse area for awhile and still managed to get back to the Doubletree well before the cocktail hour had started. Jamie & Peter were up for everything! They even helped me fulfill a dream shot that I’ve had in my head for over a year now! It’s one of my favorite shots of the season! Thanks guys!
The cocktail hour started off with one of Jamie’s friends, a professional Broadway singer, serenading the couple & guests with his melodious voice. I got a little carried away myself, it was beautiful! Then Jones Tones rocked the Doubletree late into the night. I had a great time capturing all of Jamie & Peter’s amazing moments. Thank you so much for choosing me! I’m so glad to have clients as amazing as you guys that I can now call you friends! 🙂
xoxoxo,
Mabyn
How did you meet?
We met at a going-away party for a coworker, and we realized that we had worked together for 2 years and had never met! That night I sent Pete a message on MySpace and gave him my number. He called the next day!
How did your fiance propose?
After going to dinner at the restaurant where we had our first date, Pete took me to Lights on the Lake, and he pulled over at the end and got down on one knee in the snow and popped the big question!
Tell me a bit about the planning process for your wedding (how did you pick the venue, colors, funny stories, etc..):
We had a looong time to plan (a year and 9 months), so we booked all the major things very early on and then got to relax, which was so nice! I must have dragged Pete to meetings with about 10 different photographers before I found Mabyn and Tim, and it was love at first sight of their work!
What details at your wedding had special significance?
The cake knife/server set was actually used by my parents at their wedding and had been engraved with their names. A close friend of my family had the set engraved on the other side with our names, and now we have a beautiful family heirloom!
What was the most memorable moment(s) of your day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing Pete waiting for me…the love I felt at that moment was overwhelming!
If you had to do it all over, would you change anything?
Not a thing!
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
My nephew/ring bearer Luke doing the sprinkler dance when he was introduced! Hysterical!
What was your favorite wedding purchase?
Hands down, our amazing photographers and videographer! Our day will be remembered forever because of them!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Negril, Jamaica
Any advice for future bride & grooms?
Just enjoy every single moment of the process. Even when things get stressful, just remember that no matter what happens or how things turn out, you will have the love of your life standing next to you…it doesn’t get any better than that!
