Sometimes we plan and plan and things still don’t go the way we had it all mapped out in our brains. Originally Meredith & Jonathan were set on a mountain session at Black Balsam Knob, but early freezing conditions closed off the parkway leading up to the trail. So after some quick research, we found Lookout Mountain!

It was more of a hike than I had planned, however, the colors were incredible! We wouldn’t have gotten all of the vibrant yellows & oranges had we gone further up in elevation. Meredith & Jonathan are also avid hikers, so the steep trail didn’t bother them at all. I, however, need to get in better shape if I’m going to do this trail again.

Lookout Mountain was absolutely stunning and I’m so glad we changed our plans and found this gem of a trail.
