The morning of Kat & Christian’s shoot the forecast changed to rain. These two had traveled the night before 3.5 hours for their engagement session in Blowing Rock only to have to reschedule. We talked multiple times that morning and they ultimately decided that even if it didn’t rain, they really wanted the sunset for their photos. Fair enough and we planned to reschedule.
Fast forward an hour later. I checked the weather again and low and behold it had changed. Summer in North Carolina is like that, fickle. So I called one more time in hopes to convince Kat & Christian to keep their session and apparently I wore them down because they agreed! I told them on the phone “if there isn’t a sun set, I’ll make one for you.”
And that’s exactly what we did. By the time we got to the top of Beacon Heights, the mountain views were covered in a cloud. With a little thought & some off-camera flash skills, we made our own sunset & man was it ever perfect!
After we finished the shoot and we all drove back to town, I noticed a break in the clouds and the most gorgeous sunset peaked through. So I flashed my lights and got Kat & Christian to pull over for a few natural sunset photos too. All in all, it was an epic and fantastic shoot. I’m so thankful Kat & Christian trusted me because their engagement session is one of my new favorites!
