When I first chatted with Jessy on the phone about a year ago it was obvious to me that her wedding was going to be AMAZING! I don’t book too many weddings after October so I knew that this was going to be THE perfect way to end my wedding season. The day was the epitome of class and glamour! I felt like I was transported back the the 60’s for a night at an elegant gala event. Jessy is a classic beauty! I could easily see her on the silver screen decades ago. All of the details of the day just added to the elegant feel…oh yeah and having the whole thing at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs definitely pulled the whole thing together. My photographer’s brain was ecstatic with all of the delicious details to capture! Thank you so much Jessy and Evan! Your day was an event to remember!
xoxoxo,

How did you meet?
College- I was having a get together and Evan was invited through a mutual friend. We met and just talked and talked all night about everything, even finding out our birthdays were a day apart. He was so cute, he showed me card tricks he had been working on…2 out of 3 were successful. But all of them won me over:)
How did your fiance propose?
It was in December. We went on a big elaborate date in NYC…. a beautiful dinner, visiting our favorite stores, even seeing the tree in Rockefeller Center, I was so excited and just “KNEW” he was going to ask me there. That night was so cold and Evan was taking his time popping the question. I was getting sad that I had gotten my hopes up and that I was completely wrong. Then a giant gust of wind came blowing through the air and I said ” OUCH MY EAR” but nervous Evan swears that he heard “DON’T YOU DARE!” ( as in propose) we got on the train to go back home and I was still really sad and freezing. When we got home- Evan was more in his element and ended up asking me in front of our own Christmas tree. It ended up being a funny and special story anyway.
Tell me a bit about the planning process for your wedding (how did you pick the venue, colors, funny stories, etc..):
I wanted the most incredible venue I could find, and it sounds silly but my most important thing for a venue was that it couldn’t have “hotel” style carpet anywhere ( you know the kind with the designs to mask big stains). That was such a big deal because I wanted the wedding to have a flawless appearance. I didn’t want to have to work around anything, or pretend that my colors went with that red, gold, brown and “is that green supposed to be there?” carpet. For my wedding colors I went with gold, silver and navy…nice beautiful winter-time colors. However, my bouquets were made up of jewel toned, brooches. We didn’t want flowers because we wanted a keepsake and something to make people remember our wedding as just a little bit different. Now, my bouquet is on display in our living room, and it’s something we can always cherish. Plus, it added a very unique piece to our wedding.
What details at your wedding had special significance?
My brother is a youth pastor and was taking classes to become ordained but he specifically planned his class schedules to be able to be ordained in time to officiate our ceremony. It was his first wedding and it was really special to have him do it. We also passed around Italian cookies to all of our guests at our wedding as a way to personally say “thank you for coming”. Our guests were wowed by this even when Evan dumped half a tray on the floor….whoops!
What was the most memorable moment(s) of your day?
For me it was standing at the alter, knees shaking, because I was so excited, I didn’t know how to calm down at that point. For Evan, he says it was watching my face as he read his vows to me…and seeing his sisters cry from of the corner of his eye.
If you had to do it all over, would you change anything?
We both said we would have danced together more. We barely saw each other the whole night because we were bopping around so much trying to talk to everyone.
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Everyone was so excited to get to the venue that we completely forgot to bring the bouquets with us….in fact they were still in my car! Evan’s dad had to go and get them at the last minute, and I was parked FAR away. There were also some key dance moves by our friends and family that we can’t WAIT to see on video.
What was your favorite wedding purchase?
My dress, it was exactly what I wanted. Evan’s favorites were the brooches. He really liked the idea. Ohhh and the hot chocolate bar at the end of the night…wow- such a great call.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went on a mini getaway to Disney World and plan on going to Italy sometime in 2012.
Any advice for future bride & grooms?
Make sure you spend as much time as you can together during the wedding. It gets crazy with a lot of guests and you get pulled in a lot of directions. Just take the time to dance and enjoy the day together.
