The biggest joy for me is getting to document a wedding with all of my friends. I’ve gotten to do so many over the years, and even though most people would say don’t mix business with family & friends, I disagree. Granted, you still need to be wise in the people you book, but I’ve been blessed with incredible friends! Kassie & Harley are no exception to that rule. I met Harley at least 6 or 7 years ago when we were attending Faith Chapel. He was still in high school and we all attended a young adults group together. Harley is a practical joker, always with a punch line and a smirk on his face. When he met Kassie, I was pretty sure there was no one else for him. He looked at her in a way that I hadn’t seen yet, and she returned it in kind. Kassie is a great balance to Harley’s jovial nature. Her tender heart and sweet spirit makes them a fantastic couple!
Their wedding day was a mix of rustic elegance. The Bayshore Grove in Oswego, NY was the perfect spot for their day. They didn’t get the epic sunset that they feature, clouds tend to put a damper on such things, but that didn’t stop us from creating some epic wedding shots! There were some especially sweet moments between Harley, Kassie, and their family members, as everyone soaked in their love for one another! And as always with my crew of friends, the party was rockin’ that night. With stories, laughter, and dancing abundant! Thank you so much Kassie & Harley! It was such an honor to be there and capture it all for you!
XOXOXO,
Mabyn
How did your fiance propose? He took me out for ice cream (my fav) in skaneattles. I thought something was up because we never go there just for ice cream. After we were done eating we took a walk on the pier and I could tell that he was nervous and acting funny. Something in me knew he was gonna pop the question but I looked at his pocket and didn’t see a box for a ring. So that thought quickly left my mind. We left the pier and started walking till we found a beautiful bench / whispering wall. We sat down and talked and next thing I knew he was down on one knee and asked me if I’d marry him!!! And I said NO! Can you believe it?? I thought he was joking. He completely took me by surprise and I couldn’t believe it was happening. Once I pulled it together and stopping crying I told him yes! I would love nothing more than to be his wife.
Tell me a bit about the planning process for your wedding: We fell in love with our venue instantly! I always wanted an outdoor fall wedding by the water and Bayshore gave me exactly that. It was everything I was looking for! It was quite a drive out there and it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere but as soon as we got there I knew it was perfect!
What was the most memorable moment(s) of your day? I will never forget when I first saw Harley standing there in his tux surrounded by our friends and family. The look on his face .. I can’t even describe it :0) it was such an amazing moment. I also had an amazing moment with my oldest brother. I hadn’t seen him for quite some time and we were able to have a brother/sister dance. That meant a lot to me.
Funniest memory from your wedding day? Where do I begin..?First I put Harley’s ring on the wrong hand, then Harley said “I do” way before it was time, and we totally messed up the sand unity thing. But all those little tiny mistakes is what made the ceromony great and memorable. It also kept our guests entertained.
If you had to do it all over again would you change anything? I would make sure we had communion. Somehow there was a mess up and we didn’t get to do communion.
Any advice for future bride & grooms? Don’t sweat the small stuff!
