This week is by far the coldest we’ve had here in NC in a long time. I walked outside the other day and yelled “WHY IS IT NEW YORK OUTSIDE?!” Getting away from the cold was one of the reasons I moved. Thankfully it only lasts a week or two down here. I’ll survive!
The snow in NC is practically non existent, which is another thing I’m usually okay with. However, we managed to get a couple inches this year before Christmas! It’s almost unheard of to get snow in NC before Christmas! The first couple of years I was living here, I would grumble when it snowed. All of the natives would jump with glee, run and take pictures in the snow, and get epic sad faces when it finally melted. Southerners are weird ya’ll!
But sometime after I got married, my opinion of snow started to change. Growing up in it for 4-6 months out of the year – you get desensitized to how wonderful snow can be! Maybe it’s because my husband thinks snow is THE BEST THING EVER! He literally turns into the 9 year old version of himself. Or maybe it’s because he gets a snow day and we get to play in the snow together. Either way, I find snow very enjoyable now!
The snow fall that we’ve had this year came right before Kaylee & Brad’s anniversary session! These two just moved from Michigan & they’re no strangers to snow. They have similar feelings towards that cold fluffy stuff that I’ve held for so long. But, when we realized what a beautiful backdrop it would create, they were all in for a winter wonderland photo shoot!
There’s a park right down the road from where Daniel & I live that I’ve been dying to shoot at. Mac Anderson is a walking park in Statesville that has epic pine trees and winding trails. It’s not your typical manicured park, which I really love! When it snows Mac Anderson Park becomes MAGICAL! Wow! The perfect setting for this sweet couple!
What are your feelings on snow? Are you in love or trying to get as far away from it as possible? Let me know in the comments below!
