Moses Cone
Blowing Rock, NC is one of our favorite places on earth. The quaint little town surrounded by gorgeous mountains is perfect! When one of my favorite families in the world wanted to go on a mountain top adventure it was my first recommendation!
Every year the Shown Family is up for something different. The first year we explored Kernersville with Shannon, Ethan, Ava, & Luke . The second year we spent time with extended family in their back yard. And this year we trekked up to Moses Cone and Beacon Heights to seek out breathtaking views!
Moses Cone has a lovely old manor house with acres of trails to wander and discover. We even got to watch horses ride by as we picked flowers on an old dirt road. Ava was extremely happy! She absolutely adores horses! Her little brother Luke was like a ninja jumping and rolling wherever he could.
Beacon Heights
As the sun started to set, we made our way down the Blue Ridge Parkway towards the Beacon Heights Trail. This trail typically takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes to wander up. I usually stop along the way to take some cool photos. Ethan, however, was on a mission! He wanted to get to the pinnacle! I’m pretty sure we made it up that mountain in less than 10 minutes…maybe even closer to five! Phew! Shannon and I were huffing and puffing all the way!
Once we reached that incredible mountain view, we forgot all about the intense hike. We just couldn’t stop taking it in. All of us except maybe Ava, who is terrified of heights. She was a trooper tho and did everything I asked, even if it took her awhile. She was very brave that day!
As always, I just love shooting the Shown Family Adventures! They’re so loving and up for anything! I can’t wait to see what next year holds!
