I haven’t kept it secret, moving your business to a new location is hard. I’m pretty much starting from scratch with 6 years of wedding experience under my belt. I could pretend everything is sunshine and roses and that my wedding season is booked solid, but what does that do for anybody? Maybe, just maybe my struggles and climb will help someone else in a similar situation. So I wont sugar coat life, cuz we all live it and we might as well learn from it! I don’t like to dwell on the negative though, I strive to find the silver lining in all things. So, when my wedding queue isn’t as long as I would like it I find other ways to fill that time in. Sure, it leaves me a little extra wiggle room for summery things, but a girl has got to eat!
There’s something incredibly special about the wedding photography/cinematography industry. We’re mostly social creatures. We love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and documenting it all for the world to see. When we meet other people who do the same, we treat them as well as any client if not better….because THEY GET IT! So there is at least one thing I can rely on, my kindred spirits! They encourage me, commiserate with me, and sometimes even hook me up with a sweet gig or two. My saving grace this year has been me new friends here in NC. They’ve hooked me up with many second shooting jobs, editing jobs, and WONDERFUL companionship. THANK YOU to any of you fellow photog/cinema geeks out there. I really REALLY love you!
I’m also incredibly humbled that these other photographers that I’m shooting for are allowing me to showcase my work from THEIR bookings. They have every right to tell me no. Techically I’m working for them and therefor the images are theirs, but again, these kindred spirits believe in everyone benefitting. They want me to succeed just as much as I want them to. We’re in this giant ocean of wedding work together so we might as well help each other swim!
This particular wedding I shot with Katie Dickson Photography. We hadn’t even met until the day of the wedding, but I can tell you we were like two peas in a pod! We had a fantastic time getting to know the couple, the hilarious wedding party, guests, and the incredible vendors who brought everything together! I’m definitely smitten with Dewberry Farm! How beautiful and cozy is this venue?! Thank you again to Katie for allowing me to showcase my images from the day. It was a blast working together and I hope we get to do it again soon!
XOXOXO,

Katie gettin’ the perfect shot!
Erik isn’t fond of snakes…
Happy tears all around!
I love the idea of planing a tree on your wedding day!
Half way through the reception a neighbor called and complained about the FANTASTIC band being too loud. So instead of packing up for the night, they went unplugged and followed the bride and groom around the dance floor!
