Spring is here friends! The leaves are out, flowers are blooming, and pollen gets all over everything! We stay outside sneezing tho, because IT’S FINALLY WARM! Daniel and I are a little obsessed with the weather. I’m always checking it to see what we’ll encounter on our wedding day. Daniel is constantly checking for tornadoes! His secret dream life is to be a storm chaser! I was thankful we didn’t have to chase any storms on Saturday for Mary & Jeremy’s garden wedding at the Shuford House in Hickory. It was the perfect sunny day for a garden wedding!
Mary & Jeremy
Mary & Jeremy are incredibly sweet and kind. I could see immediately that these two adore each other. Most of their relationship was spent driving across North Carolina. Mary lives here on the western side of the state, while Jeremy lived all the way in Wilmington! Despite the distance, they found a way to make it work. They would meet in a new city, explore it together, get to know each other, all while falling in love! Their favorite city quickly became Raleigh. So it was a perfect spot for their engagement session! We had a great time exploring gardens and the downtown Raleigh area with these two. We just couldn’t wait for their wedding day!
The Shuford House
Mary & Jeremy chose the Shuford House in Hickory, NC for their wedding venue. It’s a gorgeous historic home right in the center of Hickory. Mary has a love for Asian culture, so when she spotted the unique gazebo feature in the garden a whole theme quickly unfolded (or should I say folded) for her wedding. Mary & her family spent hours upon hours crafting all sorts of DIY details for the big day. The most impressive of which was all of the gorgeous paper cranes! They had paper cranes as escort cards as well as decor. They were beautiful! The Asian accents were the perfect little details to accentuate the Shuford House. It’s magistic with big beautiful rooms and lots of light! I was so happy to shoot all of the getting ready photos those beauitful rooms!
The Gardens
The gardens themselves are just as lovely and give two options for ceremony sites. The sweeping double gazebo separates either location. One side a beautiful sweeping lawn, while the other hosts a beautiful fountain that guests can be seated around. Both are equally lovely! Daniel and I had a great time photographing all over the Shuford House grounds!
Lastly, the Shuford House has a covered awning to host the reception. It’s surrounded by historic trees covered in lights! You know how I love me some lights! So when the sky was dark enough we had a great time creating romantic portraits for Mary & Jeremy.
These two could not have asked for a more perfect day! It was relaxed, beautiful, and a ton of fun! Thank you Mary & Jeremy for choosing us to capture your gorgeous wedding day!
All of Mary & Jeremy’s wedding was DIY with a few exceptions. Vendor shoutout to the Shuford House for hosting such a lovely event! Also to the Pierce Entertainment Company for providing the party! Y’all, the Peirce Entertainment Company is an incredible singing DJ duo! We were blown away by their talent and kindness! Check them out!
