Crystal blue skies, a gorgeous finger lakes location, and true geeky love! Katie & Tim’s wedding day was just perfect!
If you keep up with the blog, then you’ll most likely remember that I got to visit Katie & Tim in Baltimore for their You + Me session. It was a great way to tour the city and get to know this awesome couple better. I must say it didn’t take long before we were laughing like old friends. Especially with all of the geeky things we have in common!
So when their day arrived I was so stinkin’ excited! Not only were they getting married at the breathtaking Wagner Vineyards, but my gorgeous cousin Sarah was the matron of honor! It was the cherry on top of this delicious day! Katie & Tim did a great job with the stunning decor and were up for any shot I wanted to take. Oh yeah and don’t forget the many stories, the laughs, and the rockin’ party that went well into the night! All in all the day couldn’t have been any better! Emily & I even danced it up in the middle of taking pictures. Thank you so much Katie & Tim for the joy it was to capture your day!
XOXOXO,

How did your fiance propose?
I was in law school and having a very stressful week. Tim offered to take a day off of work to help catch up with errands and things around the house that needed to get done that I just didn’t have time for. When I came home I found the list that I had given him was completely done, but what I didn’t know was that he had also driven all the way to Pennsylvania to go to the fireworks outlet. Later that night he asked me if I wanted to go for a walk and took me to a little secluded area of our apartment complex. He then set off a little bottle rocket, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He said that he wanted there “to be fireworks.” It was very sweet, and I obviously said yes!
(The less romantic, but funny part of the story – when he asked me if I wanted to take a walk I said, “sure, I needed to take out the trash anyway!” So our first act as an engaged couple was to finish taking out the trash I had carried out with me!)
Tell me a bit about the planning process for your wedding (how did you pick the venue, colors, funny stories, etc..):
Wagner was actually not our first venue choice, but when our original venue cancelled on us 4 months before the wedding, we were so grateful that it was available for our wedding weekend! The funny part of the story is that I had actually remarked several years earlier that if I ever got married I would have wanted to do it there at Wagner, but distance had originally caused us to go with a different location. Now I am actually so glad that the original venue cancelled on us, I think it was meant to be!
What was the most memorable moment(s) of your day?
Reading our vows. It was a really powerful moment, we both hardly got through it. Luckily the best man and matron of honor were on hand with tissues!
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
The garter toss. Tim’s younger brother Anthony caught the garter, but he had no idea what that meant for him. The DJ told him “you’re about to get an education. kid!”
If you had to do it all over again would you change anything?
No! It was seriously perfect.
Any advice for future bride & grooms?
Designate a family member to field questions the week before the wedding! You will get about a million questions such as “what time is hotel check in” and “how do I get to the ceremony” that week, and it can be really stressful while you are trying to get last minute stuff done. My mom took care of this, and it was a huge help!
What was your favorite part about working with Mabyn Ludke Photography?
How laid back and fun they were. It really set a great, relaxed tone. Everyone at the wedding kept telling us how awesome our photographers were, especially when they got up on the dance floor to do the thriller dance!
Mabyn also has great creativity which we love. Tim and I both agreed that you know you have an awesome photographer when you say “this place has a swan pond” and she instead leads you back to take photographs with the old farm equipment.
