We arrived for Grace & Reed’s wedding at the Timberlake Earth Sanctuary near Greensboro, North Carolina. It was abuzz with people setting up chairs, placing center pieces, & filling water glasses. All of this we expect to see on a wedding day. The unexpected part was that none of these people were hired. They were friends & family. This was a community of loved ones coming together to create this gorgeous day. It solidified what Grace & Reed had told us from their first meeting with us. Their wedding was all about their community. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but I also think that applies to marriage. We don’t walk this road with just each other, it takes a community to help us have successful marriages. I have no doubt that Grace & Reed realized this long ago.
As the day moved on, community remained a strong theme. Love filled poems & passages were read aloud by family & friends. Toast after toast was given showering this couple with their adoration. My personal favorite part was the band. Though they were dubbed the “Day Of’s” they weren’t your typical wedding band. These band of brothers serenaded Grace & Reed through out the night. The sense of love & warmth at this wedding was almost as tangible as cutting the cake!
The Beauty of the Community
Yes, it can be easier to hire out and get all of these things taken care of. But, there is such a beauty to see a community work together to make such a gorgeous wedding day possible. I love that Grace & Reed can look back at their wedding day and know exactly who helped & where. Everyone who participated should be incredibly proud! Even the hired vendors were spectacular! It was such a great team surrounding Grace & Reed! I’m still grinning ear to ear from their gorgeous wedding day!
