When you get along with your clients, work isn’t work, it’s a joy! That’s what Tirzah & PJ’s wedding was, just pure joy! I arrived at the church and was greeted by Tirzah & her gaggle bridesmaids with smiles and hugs from all! Despite the fact that the getting ready area was small, dark, and quite hot, all the girls spirits were happy and plus laughter makes any place beautiful! The same high spirits could be found at the back of the church where PJ and his guys were getting ready. It was clear to see that neither party was having any doubts about the decision to be married.
Their ceremony was very personal. Tirzah’s family has a rich Jewish heritage and both Tirzah and PJ have a profound Christian faith. They honored both elements that day in a beautiful blend of a ceremony. Then we were whisked off to Orchard Vali Country Club where we spent the afternoon adventuring around the grounds. When I say adventuring, I mean it! The wedding party all took out golf carts and raced each other around. You can imagine the hilarity that ensued!
The reception was the perfect way to showcase Tirzah & PJ’s love for each other with beautiful speeches and stories and then throw in Ormond Entertainment who ran a flawless ship (and a rockin’ party!) and you have one heck of a celebration! Thank you so very much to my dear friends Tirzah and PJ for choosing me to capture their day. I am deeply honored and loved spending every moment of the day with you!
XOXOXO,
Mabyn
How did your fiance propose? PJ and his friend scouted out the gorged in Ithaca – a place that we had talked about visiting. Later that week, 2 other couples and ourselves went to these gorges to hike and swim. The other couples knew he was going to propose. We went to a coupe different hiking spots and on our last gorge, there is a huge waterfall. Everyone suggested taking pictures at the bottom of the waterfall. The other coupes went first then it was our turn! PJ had been saying to me that we have to go up and do a funny pose – he obviously knew his pose but I was lagit thinking of what we were going to do. I had an idea! Above where we were going to stand was a small ledge coming out that a person could sit on, so we would do a sitting/standing pose. So when the time came I hoist myself up onto this ledge – not seeing the big rock jutting out and smack my head right on the rock. Well there was blood and a woozy Tirzah. Luckiy one of our friends is a nurse and she checked me out. Also it was a good thing that I like getting my picture taken because I rallied and stood back up on the ledge and PJ proposed
Tell me a bit about the planning process for your wedding (how did you pick the venue, colors, funny stories, etc..): God really provided throughout the whole planning of the wedding. Our budget was not the biggest but with the help of knowing people, making a lot of things ourselves, asking friends for help, everything pulled together. It was blessing after blessing. Almost like God kept reminding us that we were doing his will with this marriage.
What was the most memorable moment(s) of your day? PJ: “Standing up on the altar waiting for Tirzah to come down”
Tirzah: “Walking down the isle to him!”
Funniest memory from your wedding day? Taking everyone out on the golf course in golf carts – hilarious!
If you had to do it all over again would you change anything? Communicate length of ceremony time and communicate to wedding party – we kept losing people!
Any advice for future bride & grooms? Don’t freak about the little stuff! PJ says to be sure to eat something before you stand in front of all those people. Add the extra hour onto the reception – it was worth it! Use all the connections you can – it’s okay to get deals
What was your favorite part about working with Mabyn Ludke Photography? Working with her was so comfortable and not awkward and uptight. We felt comfortable. Not like we were getting professional pictures taken, but like we were having fun with a friend who happened to have two humungous cameras strapped to her waiste! I felt completey comfortable that the shots that needed to be taken were taken, I didn’t feel like I had to tell her what to do – she just did and it was amazing!
