Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery
Elizabethtown is located about an hour or so away from the North Carolina coast. We spent several hours driving lazy country roads with of rolling fields that gave way to coastal plains. Tucked away off of 87 you would never believe this spot existed! Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery is a drink of cool water on a hot summer day. Not only is it a fun and quirky vineyard, but a zoological preserve! As you walk the grounds you’ll be greeted with man sized tin frogs in various acts of life. My personal favorite was the artist frog who was painting some sort of masterpiece. Along with our frogger friends, you’ll be greeted by a herd of miniature ponies, donkeys, a gigantic Clydesdale, and llamas! Two peacocks play host and wander the ground freely, showing off their plumes to any guest who will cross their path.
The space Cape Fear Vineyard has cultivated is no less magical. Their event space is large, beautiful, and full of unique costumes and memorabilia. Large hammered metal wine vats line the wall, reminding you what this space is really all about. And beautiful wine glass chandeliers cascade from the ceiling adding a classy accent to a rustic style venue. The only way to describe this space is unique!
Hilary & David
I would probably choose that same word to describe Hilary & David too. Their love, style, and passions are all unique and fantastic. I love how so many of our couples march to the beat of their own drummer! If David had been able to plan the wedding all by himself, these two would have been married at the Renaissance Festival! But, we all know how weddings go. So many opinions…oh yeah and there’s the bride to consider. 😉 David did sneak in a little of his dream tho. His groomsmen all received swords as gifts! Epic to the max!
Hilary & David are geeky, creative, and snarky (in the best way ever). It comes out in their engagement photos perfectly! They love to pick on each other relentlessly. To some it may seem strange, but to them it’s a love language! But when it comes down to it, they’re deeply bonded and committed to one another. When you scroll down and see their sweet emotional faces, you’ll agree. Somehow their wedding, part classic and part quirky, fit them like a glove. Cape Fear Vineyard showcased their creative style. And Bladensboro First Baptist Church was perfect for their sentimental side.
Hiccups
In in the 10 years of shooting weddings, I don’t think one wedding has gone exactly to plan. There’s always some sort of hiccup. Hilary & David’s wedding had…lots of hiccups….but when it was all said and done you’d never know it. They were able to spend amazing quality time with their family & friends, cried tears of joy as they finally said “I do,” and partied HARD in celebration of it all. When it comes down to the hiccups they really don’t matter. Hilary & David took them in stride and in the end had an amazing wedding day! We were so honored that they brought us across the state for their epic wedding weekend!
We bonded with Hilary & David through their whole wedding process. It’s been so amazing getting to know them both and then capture their love story. Thank you so much you two! We love you guys!
XOXOXO,
