I consider Grayson Highlands to be the last big adventure for Daniel and I before two became three. We hiked along the trail just two days before finding out we were pregnant with our baby bean. Who at the time was the size of a poppy seed! I remember feeling slightly uncomfortable that weekend but it didn’t stop me from going to see THE WILD PONIES! AH! I was determined to find them and we sure did! I remember standing there, surrounded by those ponies, thinking “I HAVE to do a session here!”
Cue Olivia and Jermaine getting engaged. I was beyond thrilled they asked us to shoot their wedding. I already knew them from Natali & Cody’s amazing wedding. Natali & Olivia are sisters. We’ve been friends on social media since then.
Olivia already knew that she wanted mountains for their engagement session. They live in southern VA and we live in NC so we were brainstorming spots somewhere in the middle. It was then that lightning hit my brain and I remembered Grayson Highlands. I mentioned it to Olivia & Jermaine and it was on their list of spots they’ve been wanting to visit! IT WAS MEANT TO BE!
Can you tell I was excited? Well, let me just say my preggo butt hiked up that road and loved every single minute of it. It felt like everything was coming full circle. I was due just over a month later with Bean. I got to capture some seriously amazing moments of Olivia & Jermaine and in one of my dream locations. It was beyond perfection.
Soon these two will get married and I’ll get to squeeze them and their sweet families again! I can’t wait!
XOXOXO,
