When I first received an inquiry from Lindsey, I knew that she & I would be friends. It was only more confirmed when she came to my little studio and we got to gush over wedding ideas and plans. We had so much fun getting to know one another and I was super excited to meet her guy, Mark. So we eagerly waited for the warm weather to get here so we could do their engagement session.

Here’s the problem though. Lindsey & Mark are incredible people, they’re both in the business of helping others. Lindsey is a nurse & Mark a firefighter, which means there schedules are absolutely insane! Then throw me into the mix who in the warm weather months is shooting her face off, gets proposed to, and decides to plan a wedding & move all in that time span too! It was the craziest time trying to schedule a time for all 3 of us to get together, it may have been way later than intended but it was SO WORTH THE WAIT!

Lindsey & Mark came on over to my neck of the woods & we wandered the Cre8 property. Mark is just as amazing as Lindsey described, and though they were nervous at first, their session was a dream! These two have such a deep love for each other and know how to have fun! We even popped a bottle of champagne in celebration! Woohoo! Gosh I just adore these two and I can’t wait to spend all day with them TOMORROW! EEEEE! I’ll be adventuring up to Asheville to capture their gorgeous mountain wedding! It’s going to be AMAZING!!!!

See you two soon!

XOXOXO,
Mabyn

I had been waiting for Amanda and Bill’s wedding since last year’s epic You + Me session! You may remember their vintage love plastered EVERYWHERE because that’s how in love I was with the both of them!

When their wedding day finally arrived the day threatened thunder storms, but luckily they held off just for Amanda and Bill! I was greeted by a whole team of bridesmaids and moms that were as thrilled to me meet as I was to meet them! I had so much fun getting creative at All that Pinache! We then jaunted down to the cutest little church in Marcellus for a beautiful ceremony where I got to meet Amanda’s gorgeous and unique wedding gown! It was so simple and different at the same time, we fell in love right there! 😉

The whole day had this understated vintage flare which I loved! From the church and the simple and elegant ceremony  to the vintage Chevorlet they drove to the reception with, all the way down to the cake topper that was Bill’s grandparents when they got married! I even was lucky enough to steal Amanda and Bill away for a few moments to capture some goregous night shots! Then back to an amazing party that could have gone on all night long! What was really the most spectacular thing about Amanda & Bill’s wedding day was the unforgettable feeling of love from everyone around them! They truly have a huge family to support them no matter what! I already miss Amanda and Bill! They’re all the way back in Texas! Thank you so much for choosing me, I’m so glad that I not only could capture your day but find two new amazing friends!

xoxoxo,

How did your fiance propose? We’re students in Texas but we first met in undergrad in NY while we were planning a service trip to Ghana our senior year. We don’t get back home to NY very often, but we usually drive back for Christmas. One Christmas we had dropped our bags off at my parents house and Bill convinced me to drive 40 minutes back to school to meet up with some friends for drinks and with the professor that came on our Ghana trip with us. Once there, he told me we should walk through campus because Iona College is so pretty when it snows and is strung up with Christmas lights. We hadn’t been back on campus in almost two years. When we got to the middle of campus we were close the first place I remember ever talking to Bill about Ghana. It was there that he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Our old professor and a bunch of my college friends/bridesmaids were waiting at the local bar for celebratory drinks afterwards!
Tell me a bit about the planning process for your wedding (how did you pick the venue, colors, funny stories, etc..): Even though we would be engaged for 18 months, I knew most of that time would be spent on my first year of medical school and I wouldn’t have a lot of time to control every detail of every moment of the wedding. Immediately after we got engaged, we talked about the most important things we wanted for our day. Our venue, our photography topped the list. We got those squared away first and told ourselves the rest would fall into place. I didn’t choose colors because, frankly, I liked all the color palates I saw. So instead I chose what Bill and I thought looked good for our day and for our bridesmaids and groomsmen, and let our vendors be creative and fill in the gaps. The last month before the wedding I was off of school so I spent it DIY-ing, in order to add the little details into the wedding I knew I wanted. It worked out beautifully, and it morphed into a family and tradition centered, vintage inspired, very memorable day.
What was the most memorable moment(s) of your day? Our ceremony, and the sermon our pastor BJ gave to us. BJ has known Bill for years and drove all the way from Buffalo for our ceremony. There was a church full of people but looking back it feels like it was just Bill and I and BJ marrying us.
Funniest memory from your wedding day? Finding out my new husband could break dance when Vanilla Ice started playing.
Any advice for future bride & grooms? Make a promise to yourself that you will not be stressed the day of your wedding. It really is a conscious decision that you need to make for yourself. But if you’re determined not to stress, you’ll see that all the details of the day find a way to work themselves out. Also: make sure you have someone that knows how to bustle the back of your dress. We ran into an awkward 30 minutes with the entire staff of the lodge underneath my wedding gown because of a complicated bustle.
What was your favorite part about working with Mabyn Ludke Photography? Too many to name! Besides knowing how incredible her photos are, she’s got such a terrific energy about her. My entire family, bridal party, and just about everyone she interacted with the day of LOVED her! It really felt like we had a friend there who just happened to take incredible photographs!
