You may recall a sweet little wedding nestled in the Appalachian mountains about 45 minutes from Asheville that Daniel & I shot last summer. Jenna & David are worship leaders and they contacted us to shoot their incredibly sweet & beautiful Burnsville, NC wedding. After most weddings, I send a few photos to the vendors who helped create such a wonderful event. We love lovin’ on our vendors and we appreciate all they do so the least we could do is share a few photos with them. Little did we know that this simple act would lead to quite the chain reaction!

Our images were shared from vendor to writer to magazine editor! We ended up getting a full page feature in Mountain Escapes Magazine! A completely unexpected and wonderful surprise! We also landed an invite to the 2017 Burnsville Bridal Expo. After all of that love, how could we say no?! So we packed up our photos in the car and headed to what is quickly becoming one of my favorite little towns, Burnsville!

Amelia Hoilman of White Falls Catering did an incredible job of setting the stage for all of the talented vendors to showcase their specialties. We had a great time introducing ourselves and getting to know the local community. I’m a HUGE fan of supporting local and this community sure knows how to do it right! On top of the beautiful setup in the Burnsville Town Center, they invited West Entertainment to get the party going, & had a hilarious cake smash where brides clawed through layers and layers of cake to find the ring hidden inside! It was quite possibly one of the nicest & most entertaining bridal shows I’ve ever attended!

As some of you may know, 2017 marks my 10th year as a wedding photographer. That means I’ve officially been shooting weddings for a DECADE! Okay, now if looking in the mirror didn’t make me feel old, this sure does! However, it’s a milestone I will gratefully celebrate! To work at something I love so much for so long, to have others support me, to be able to see hundreds of joyful brides and grooms as I scroll through my website look back at me, it’s a feeling of satisfaction and peace that I can’t aptly describe.

Most of the time when we attended a bridal show we give away an engagement session. This year however, I wanted to go big in celebration of 10 years! So we opted to give away a wedding collection! WHAT?! I know! We’re crazy! So it is with much joy & excitement that I get to announce that the winner of our Wedding Collection Giveaway is Margaret Casey & Jackie Sprinkle!!!!! Congrats!!!! We’ll be sending you an official “You won lets get our happy dance on” email and we can setup a time to discuss all the details! EEEE! YAY! This is so much fun!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We can’t wait to shoot more beautiful weddings in the WNC area and have an amazing 2017 season!

XOXOXO,
Mabyn

There’s the quaint little town nestled just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Appalachian mountains called Burnsville, NC. It’s one of those beautiful little spots where you could just spend your day drinking coffee and sneaking into antique stores or used book shop. As soon as I visited Burnsville for Jenna’s bridal session I knew I was going to love this little town. After their wedding day I definitely was! Jenna and David took over the whole of Burnsville’s town square! They got ready at the Nu Wray Inn, married in the First Baptist Church, and then partied at the Burnsville Town Center! Daniel and I just had to walk across a sweet little park and BAM! There we were! How wonderful!

Jenna & David’s getting ready time was some of my favorite. We had lots of time to get all of the details as well as some incredibly beautiful moments. These two are so intentional with their time and their families. These two especially wanted to honor God on their wedding day and they took several intentional moments to pray, worship, and praise. Taking those moments truly set the tone to the day of reverence and joy! Jenna and David not only worshiped along with their guests, but lead worship at their reception! These two are a talented team and it was SO COOL getting to witness their faith in such a vibrant way. Make sure you check them out at Jenna’s website!

Overall their wedding day was as lovely as that sweet little town. So many family & friends gathered to celebrate and share in Jenna & David’s joy. Thank you for choosing us Jenna and David to capture your love. Daniel and I couldn’t have been more excited for you both and the new adventures you’re embarking on!

XOXOXO,
Mabyn

  • Tell me about the planning process of your wedding:
I love anything that feels romantic and dreamy. I picked light pink, golds, and ivory. I loved using lanterns and plenty of twinkle lights. I picked the same church that my parents were married in 35 years ago. We even had our rehearsal dinner and stayed in the same inn that they did when they got married (The Nu Wray Inn). I wanted lots and lots of flowers and candles and touches of gold.

  • What was the hardest part when planning your wedding?
We got engaged and then married in a short period of time (engaged Feb. 14 and wed June 11) So there was a lot of challenges when it came to picking vendors, but it made it exciting! The hardest vendor to book actually was the cake. After finally booking a baker she had to back out for health reasons, so we scrambled to find a new baker! I didn’t taste test or anything. I just sent her the design and let her do her thing! I was really flexible when it came to planning. There were stressful moments for sure, but it was mostly fun.

  • What was the most memorable moment of your day?
It’s hard to pick. There are so many moments that stick out. I think the best part was when it was over and while everyone was cleaning up David and I sat out front the inn in the rocking chairs still in my dress and his suit and just took it in. Pleople walked by and cars honked congratulating us over and over. We couldn’t believe we were married!

  • What was the funniest moment of your day?
Gosh… this isn’t really “funny” it was pretty much horrible in the moment, but it’s funny now. My bustle was a challenge for my bridesmaids because we forgot to practice doing it (NEVER LET THIS HAPPEN). I was the only one who could do it and I was freaking out because it was taking so long…it didn’t help to have my big brother come in saying to hurry up before everyone left! I felt trapped in my dress and helpless. The fact that I couldn’t help or do it myself was killing me! Finally I calmed down and just let them do it. I am embarrassed to say that was not a pretty moment for me! I did have my sweet hubby to tell me that it was okay and no one would leave before we made it to the reception. Anyway, we got the dress bustled and the night went on.

  • If you had to do it all over again is there anything you’d do differently?
Yes, I would have had my bridesmaids practice the bustle!

  • Any advice to future brides & grooms?
Try your best to take it all in…every moment. It really does rush by. You wait so long for this day and it really does happen so fast. It will not be how you imagined. It will be better. Trust your family and friends who are helping. Relax and smile. Look your new spouse in the eyes as much as possible and take a moment and even acknowledge the fact that it’s really happening to each other. Look at him/her and say, “We did it.” Don’t get too distracted by all the craziness going on that you miss spending it with the one you said “yes” to for the rest of your life. It really is the best day ever. Take it in.

  • What, specifically, was your favorite part about working with Mabyn Ludke Photography?
She made me comfortable. She was flexible and willing to try all kinds of different things. She was open to my ideas and came up with her own ideas as well. She made me feel pretty which is a huge deal when trying to be comfortable in front of a camera. She was kind and smiled a lot and was genuinely having fun. Which in turn made me have more fun. I could tell that she was on my team and I felt supported by her.
