A scant week after I was in the warm tropical sun of St. Thomas I was back in Syracuse, NY where it was cold and rainy! Luckily a bit of sunshine came along with me and I got to spend another whole day with Amanda, Art, and their amazing families and friends! They opted to do even more pictures down in Ithaca where they first met and then off to Auburn we went for their gorgeous reception! Everything about this couple is just so amazing. They’re so in love, so caring and thoughtful, and each and everything they did reflected their beauty! Thank you so much to my wonderful friends Amanda and Art! I love you both!

As promised here is part 2 of Ali & Dwight’s amazing Love Story! One of my favorite things about their special day was the emphasis they had on their family and friends! Everything was a beautiful expereience for them. After the ceremony ended they immediately ushed everyone out onto the lawn by Cayuga lake to have the first of several toasts that day! Then as people mingled and chatted while Ali and Dwight hugged and laughed with them all! We then ventured up to the Cayuga Ridge Estate Winery where Hallagan Events had set one of the most gorgeous little rustic receptions you ever did see! Complete with a tree chandelier  cozy blankets, and a S’more station for later in the evening! Ali and Dwight continued to laugh, hug, and dance all through the night with amazing food and wine! They lavished their guests with a beautiful (and delicious!) candle lit dinner and then danced the rest of the night away to The Destinations an amazing live band!
Amy and I could have continued taking pictures for hours and hours and hours! We had so much fun capturing every little detail! Thank you so much to Ali and Dwight for allowing us to capture your vision! It was truly amazing!

One of my favorite things about this wedding season has been it’s diversity. I have literally seen so many unique ideas and ways to celebrate love and family! Ali and I did most of our chatting via email and Skype. We only got to meet in person once, but it was enough to know that she had an amazing event planned! This one is going to take 2 blog posts folks! There’s just too much goodness to share!. We’ll start with getting ready and the ceremony!

Ali and Dwight’s getting ready location, the Inn on Columbia, was absolutely fantastic. Stunning art on the walls, great light, a circular building where Ali got dressed! What more could you ask for? How about a vintage car ride to your ceremony?! Twist my arm!

Oh yeah, and their ceremony (designed by the lovely Heather of  Hallagan Handcrafted Events) was in the sweetest little rustic building with romantic candle light everywhere! It just made the little photog inside me jump for joy! I know yours will too! Come back again tomorrow for part 2 of Ali and Dwights gorgeous day! It will not disappoint!

B&W ceremony – by Amy Semple

How did your fiance propose? We had plans to meet friends at a local winery later that day, but Dwight said he wanted to go have breakfast under the tree that was planted in my brother’s memory that morning first. I thought it was so sweet and a great idea so we headed over and had a little picnic. When he asked me to marry him I remember feeling that we were exactly where we ought to be. It was the most natural and exciting moment to say “of course!” We then walked to a nearby restaurant for some champagne and I knew he had even more up his sleeve. Suddenly my closest friends walked in and then a limo pulled up and we all took off to the winery and celebrated all day. I kept looking at Dwight throughout the day, so excited for our journey ahead and so proud to be his wife.
Tell me a bit about the planning process for your wedding (how did you pick the venue, colors, funny stories, etc..): We wanted a relaxed celebration with our closest friends and family and great food in a beautiful setting. From the beginning it was important to us for our guests to feel the magic we felt in the Finger Lakes. Those were our priorities. I don’t feel like we had to compromise too much because we knew that’s all that mattered. From there, we made choices to support our idea. Everyone wore what they felt best in. Dinner was served family style. We spent the whole day outside in the fresh air. It really felt like a beautiful dinner party. Everyone was in such a great mood. We knew it would be awesome, but it really was even better than we could have imagined.
What was the most memorable moment(s) of your day? Dwight: When I first saw Ali at the Inn the Columbia.
Ali: Driving with Dwight up to the falls before the ceremony. It was so amazing to have that time together before all the festivities began.
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
Dwight: When the musician at the ceremony dozed off and forgot to start playing the song for Ali to walk down the aisle.
Ali: Same here. It was dead silence when my dad and I started walking and I just started laughing. Really?
If you had to do it all over again would you change anything? Not a thing.
Any advice for future bride & grooms? Be present. Keep perspective. Go with the flow. And mostly, it’s not a party of one, brides. Make your guests feel welcome. Everyone is gathering because they love you and wish you happiness.
What was your favorite part about working with Mabyn Ludke Photography? Mabyn never missed a beat. Her responsiveness and enthusiasm were unsurpassed.
