Daniel & I have had a whirl wind romance in a way. We met & married in 6 months and within that time he started assisting me at weddings. By the end of 2016 he had shot 10 weddings with me! Since things happened so quickly, people haven’t gotten to know Daniel as well as they have me. So we thought it would be fun to put together a little “We are your wedding photographers” Q&A! This round is very light hearted and focuses more on Daniel than I, but we hope it’s a great way to introduce ourselves to the 2017 wedding world as a fully functional HUSBAND AND WIFE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY TEAM!!! I had to say that in all caps cuz I’m so ridiculously excited!

We’re also planning on making this YouTube thing a normal occurrence. So make sure you subscribe to our channel for helpful wedding tips, photography ideas, marriage stories, and again…cats!

So enjoy our silly selves and if you have more questions about Daniel & I, weddings, or our cats feel free to leave a comment below or shoot us an email. We’d love to keep these going!

XOXOXO,
Mabyn

What a year it has been for the Shroyer family. It’s been full of heart ache and trials, joys and growth. At the end of 2015, we lost Mike. Ami’s husband, J Michael & Sadie’s father, and my dear friend. I’ve documented so many moments in this families life, mostly happy moments, sometimes painful ones. This latest photo shoot at their new home in High Point, NC was definitely the hardest family shoot I’ve ever done. Taking pictures of this amazing family with out their Dad just didn’t feel right. We all felt the hole that Mike left that day and in true Shroyer fashion, they chose to rise above the pain they felt to get photographed. Both Ami and I agree, there were far more “forced” smiles than normal and I doubt this will go down in their books as the best photo shoot ever, but it still had to happen for many reasons. Mostly because Ami & the kids were releasing a new album that they wrote over the past year called the Good Grief Project. It’s an amazing collection of original songs and covers that show their journey and their trust in God that he works all things for good. This family never ceases to inspire and amaze me. I’m so grateful to call them friends! Please check out the Good Grief Project at www.AmiShroyer.com.

You’ll notice that there were some genuinely beautiful moments in this photo shoot because these three can’t help but show their love for each other! Next time around I think a lot of the awkwardness will have faded and we can start a new way of photographing their love and life. I have never been more grateful for the gift of photography than I was when we realized Mike was gone, but we still had his photographs. Even tho he complained about how he looked at every photo shoot, even tho he’d joke with me that I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of his kids anymore because every time they looked way too old, and even tho it always took longer than he wanted, he always LOVED the end result! Watching the slideshow at his memorial service solidified the truth that we NEED to be photographed, even if it’s not comfortable. The legacy it leaves behind is vastly more important than our comfort. It doesn’t matter what you look like right now, grab your loved ones, and make a photograph, and let them know how much you love them!

Mabyn

I am so incredibly thrilled to announce that my darling cousin Gayle & her husband Jon are no longer expecting, baby Owen is HERE! I haven’t gotten out to Greenville since this mini session we did in May, but I can’t wait to meet the cute little peanut! Hopefully you’ll all get to oooooh and aaaaah over his cuteness soon. But for now, lets enjoy the cuteness of Gayle & Jon as they excitedly waited for Owen to make his entrance! I just love how extra cozy they are, there’s something so relaxed and beautiful about doing a maternity session at your own home and it means so much more. Thanks for putting up with my trigger happy self you guys! I can’t wait to visit and snuggle up little Owen! Congrats on this new exciting chapter in your lives!

Man these year sessions just kill me. I mean look at how Baby Ray has gone from cute and snuggily newborn to a little man in a blink of an eye! I loved shooting all of his funny little expressions. This kid seriously melts me heart! Stop being so cute Baby Ray!
